Which Garage Door Opener Is Right for You?
- Belt-drive: very quiet, a good choice when there’s a bedroom above or beside the garage
- Chain-drive: strong and economical, fine for detached garages where noise doesn’t matter
- Wall-mount (jackshaft): mounts beside the door and keeps the ceiling clear, great for high ceilings, storage or a car lift
- Smart Wi-Fi openers: open, close and check your door from your phone, with alerts if it’s left open
- Battery backup: lets the door open during a power outage
Signs It’s Time for a New Opener
- Your opener is 15 years or older, or parts are hard to find
- It’s loud, slow or struggles to lift the door
- It doesn’t have safety sensors or rolling-code security
- You want phone control or a quieter opener
- It keeps breaking down even after repairs
Our Opener Installation Process
Check the door first: an opener only moves a balanced door, so we check the springs, cables and balance before installing
Recommend: we help you choose the right opener for your door, ceiling and noise needs
Install: we remove the old opener and install the new one, rail or wall-mount, with secure brackets and wiring
Program and test: we program your remotes, keypad and car where supported, set the limits and force, and test the safety reverse
What Affects the Cost of a New Opener
We give you an exact price before any work starts. The main things that affect it are the type of opener (belt, chain, wall-mount or smart), features like battery backup or Wi-Fi, the height of your ceiling and door, and whether new wiring or an outlet is needed.

Opener Installation FAQs
What is the quietest type of garage door opener?
Wall-mount (jackshaft) and belt-drive openers are the quietest. They’re the best choice if there’s a bedroom above or beside the garage.
Can you install an opener on my existing garage door?
Yes, as long as the door is in good working order and properly balanced. We check the springs and balance first, because an opener isn’t meant to lift an unbalanced door.
Can my new opener work with my phone?
Yes. Many new openers have Wi-Fi built in, so you can open, close and check the door from an app, and get alerts if it’s left open.
How long does a garage door opener last?
Most openers last 10 to 15 years with normal use. If yours is older, louder or lacks modern safety sensors, a new one is usually worth it.
